Don’t get me wrong—I love my extra long puffer parka jacket, but it doesn’t scream “fash-un” like the three winter coats I’m going to put you onto today.
Brands and designers have been absolutely killing it with coats—cropped puffers, leather jackets, trench coats, bombers, sherpa jackets, and more. Because I live in the Midwest, I’m not ashamed to say that I have quite the collection of coats. On most winter days, I’m cuddled up in my parka. But when I feel like adding a little bit of spice to my outfit, I reach for one of my more vogue coats.
These three fashionable winter coats are anything but boring. Most importantly though, they will keep you toasty warm. Keep scrolling to see how I styled my current coat favorites!
H&M Faux Fur-Lined Jacket
My favorite part about this jacket is the details. This jacket features faux fur lining on the inside as well as well as on the cuffs, collar, and hemline. I’m usually a gold gal, but I’m totally digging the silver hardware. The adjustable tabs and metal buckles give this jacket major badass biker chick vibes.
Another aspect I love about this faux leather coat is the size. You don’t need to order an XL to achieve that oversized look. I wear a medium and it’s loose in all the right places. While I may not get away with wearing one of my bulkier sweaters underneath this, I’m able to wear this jacket over a light sweater. I recently sported this fashionable winter coat over a thin wool turtleneck to a restaurant with outdoor seating and heaters and was very comfortable.
I think this jacket is a timeless classic that can be worn with almost anything. I decided to embody the biker chick aesthetic by slipping into my favorite pair of chunky black boots. Everyone needs the black Darielle Bootie by Sam Edelman. Not only do they go with every outfit, but they’re extremely comfortable. I have walked miles in these boots around the city and have yet to get a single blister.
For accessories, I popped in a pair of thick black hoops and grabbed my black vintage crocodile shoulder bag.
To break up the black shoes and accessories, I opted for a pair of light denim from H&M. I have been living for the straight leg style of jeans. I find them more flattering than a skinny leg, plus they give your legs more freedom.
H&M Oversized Shirt Jacket
Is it a shirt? A jacket? No, it’s a shacket! I’m a huge fan of shirt jackets because they make fantastic layering pieces, are oversized, and are crazy cozy. “Shackets” are the latest trend and all I’ve been seeing on sites such as Zara, Urban Outfitters, and H&M.
Beige is one of my favorite neutrals, which is why this fashionable winter coat instantly caught my eye. The jacket’s exterior is made of soft faux shearling while the interior is designed with recycled polyester. I certainly wouldn’t sport this jacket in the negative temperatures, but it’s the perfect throw-over for those warmer winter days.
Although I wish this jacket had side pockets, the large chest pockets are a unique detail that I adore. I also love the large black buttons on the front and sleeves that contrast the light colored jacket.
This look incorporates both casual and dressier pieces. Don’t be afraid to blend different styles into one outfit! In this ensemble, I mixed my lux leather pants with a pair of casual crisp white kicks to pull off an effortlessly put-together look.
The look wouldn’t be complete without a knit puffball hat. Without the hat, the outfit was too basic and boring (in my opinion). I don’t wear winter hats to stay warm, I wear them to be stylish.
First Line Los Angeles Suede Fur-Lined Jacket
Would you believe me if I told you I bought this beaut for $8? Thrift stores are the BEST places to find jackets. They’re flooded with vintage gems, like this one. I’m a sucker for suede, so when I spotted this coat, I knew I had to have it. The details in this jacket are what make it stunning. Without the fur trim on the collar, front, back, sleeves, and cuffs, this would just be a basic suede jacket. I’m sure we can all agree that this coat is anything but basic.
I’m wearing a size large, but if I had the option I would have purchased a medium. It’s a bit boxy on me, but if paired with the right pants and shirt underneath, it can be pulled off.
Style tip: Before you give away that jacket that’s too big, hear me out. Slip into your favorite pair of high-waisted skinny jeans that hit right above the ankle and tuck in a fitted top. Instead of buttoning the jacket, wear it open to show off your waist. For shoes, stay away from chunky boots and instead grab a pair of skinny pointed toe booties that will slim out your legs. And…BAM! That boxy coat that once swallowed you now flatters your figure like never before.
Because this coat does all the talking, I kept it simple for accessories. I think my black Chanel bag (let’s pretend it’s real) encompasses the same vintage chic vibes as the jacket. I popped in my current favorite pair of gold hoops and called it a day.
